“To Start Running” Review:

I have always wanted to compete in ultrarunning, but have not had the motivation or courage to take on the task and training just yet! This book however was a GREAT glimpse into the world of ultrarunning, with a small portion dedicated to a veganism diet. For those of you turned off by veganism, I just have to say that this book is not a veganism book — it is a ultrarunning book and the author, Scott Jurek, just so happens to be vegan. Jurek will share some recipes throughout the book that are vegan (and delicious!) but in no way dedicates this book to the diet.

What you will get out of this book is an inspirational story about how Jurek transitioned to an ultramarathon machine and what it takes to train and get through these long distance events.

As “sappy” as it may seem, this book truly does make you look at running as more than an activity but as a way of life.
